Italkali - Società Italiana Sali Alcalini spa – is one of Europe’s leading companies for mining, extraction, processing and exporting of rock salt.
The mining and processing of the mineral is carried out at the Racalmuto and Realmonte mines in the Agrigento province and in the Petralia mine in the Palermo province. The product is also packaged at Racalmuto and Petralia. There are another two plants, one for processing and packaging and the other for production of food grade and industrial salt; the first of these is located at the Revere logistics centre in the Mantova province and the second is at Margherita di Savoia, in the Foggia province.
Italkali handles an average of 1.7 million tons of products annually and it has developed a powerful and flexible logistics structure that is able to move large volumes of traffic and, at the same time, provide a widespread distribution service to its customers.
The directly managed loading terminal at the Porto Empedocle (Agrigentino area), supplies all the seaborne traffic, heading both overseas and to the various port-side warehouses throughout the mainland of Italy.
The distribution service structure is subdivided at a national level: it includes three commercial offices, four branches with wharehouse, four storage and distribution centres, eight loading docks and harbour stores, and two rail sorting centres.
